She prepared the crusts and went for the berries. They were gone! She only had tomatoes. Add a little cheese. And so the calzone was born.

Bookstores Getaways

Someone asked me the other day where was my favorite place to kill an afternoon. A flood of responses instantly came to mind. The most immediate smile arose from my thought of bookstores.

In the Northwest, where I’m from originally, bookstores provide shelter from the drizzle and cold and supply an endless number of adventures. Having cultivated a love for the musty, dusty stacks and the sweet smell of paper, I try to find a bookstore of note whenever my travels allow. To date these are my favorites. Can’t wait to find that next special nook and add it to the list:

Elliott Bay Book Co., Seattle WA
Twice Sold Tales, Seattle WA
Culpepper Books, Tacoma WA
King’s Books, Tacoma WA
Powell’s, Portland OR
Booksoup, Los Angeles CA
Storyopolis (children’s), Sherman Oaks CA
Iliad Bookshop, North Hollywood CA
Strand Bookstore, New York NY
Shakespeare & Co., New York City and Paris, FRANCE
Osiris, Nice FRANCE
Librairie Privat Sorbonne, Nice FRANCE

Ponderings
