Microwave Experiments

Experiment #1: The Chocolate Chip Cookie

When a single scoop of cookie dough is microwaved for more than 43 seconds it begins to burn from the inside out and smoke horrifically like a charred piece of carbon.  The edges are not salvageable, and the burnt taste penetrates the entire cookie.  Chuck it.

When a single scoop of cookie dough is microwaved for less than 20 seconds it becomes an oozy, glop of in-process dough that is yummy because it’s sweet and salty and chocolatey.  However, it must be scooped off the plate.  And, since it’s in mid-bake the texture is runny and remniscent of an egg.  The previous texture of the dough is non-existent nor exists the texture of the cookie it was destined to become.  This disappointing half-breed is edible but  physically dissatisfying on the breadth of your tongue.  It is not recommended that you eat it.

When a single scoop of cookie dough is microwaved between 28 and 34 seconds it is actually somewhat baked and edible.  Still, it lacks the nostalgic aura that comes with all goods baked.

Conclusion:  Bake your cookies.  Do not microwave them.
