To Vivaldi on His Birthday

You were a priest who lived in sin, though maintained she was just a housekeeper….for years and years and years.  The critics thought you were a better violinist than composer, but boy did you show them.  The royals loved you despite your joyful compositions that the lowly public could enjoy – which was great because Baroque can be thoroughly depressing.  The asthma got you in the end, and then you were forgotten.  Until you were rediscovered that is.  From operas to concertos, symphonies to chamber music, you weren’t too bad.  The Four Seasons are way overdone by now, but your compositions for girls’ choirs back when you were the teach, man, those rock.

So, Happy Birthday, you ol’ goat!  And thank you for the music (also said by ABBA).
